About

Introduction

Adblock Monitoring exists because finding out about blocking issues weeks after they happen is frustrating.

When you notice something's broken (maybe revenue dropped, or users are complaining, or you're just curious) you end up digging through GitHub commit histories trying to figure out when a rule was added and why. By the time you've pieced it together from scattered issue threads, you've already been blocked for weeks. There should be a simpler way to get this information.

This is that simpler way.

What This Actually Does

Adblock Monitoring gives you two things that probably should've existed already:

Real-time filter list monitoring The platform scans hundreds of ad-blocker filter lists (EasyList, uBlock Origin, regional lists, the whole ecosystem) tracking almost 500,000 rules. On a typical day, roughly 400 rules get updated (added or removed). When your domain or ad slot gets added to a blocking list, you get an alert within hours, not weeks. Email, Slack, webhooks, whatever you need to actually notice it.

Privacy-first analytics An easy way to get a quick look at the average ad-blocking rates of your users. Uses daily visitor fingerprints based on browser characteristics. No cookies, no IP addresses, no personal data. See what percentage of your traffic uses ad-blockers without overcomplicating things.

Both features work independently or together. Publishers usually want both. E-commerce sites mostly just care about the blocking alerts (false positives can kill checkout flows). Performance marketers tend to start with analytics because they need actual ad-blocker rates for their traffic quickly, not industry averages from 2019.

Who This Is For

This works for anyone who needs to know when their domains hit blocking lists or wants actual ad-blocker data from their visitors:

  • Publishers who can't afford to lose 40% of their ad impressions without noticing for three weeks
  • E-commerce sites where false-positive blocking kills conversion rates
  • Ad networks that need to monitor hundreds of domains and respond fast when something breaks
  • Performance marketers who want to calculate actual cost-per-impression instead of guessing
  • Anyone with a domain who wants to know if they're on a blocklist somewhere

The setup takes about two minutes. For blocking alerts, you just add the domains you want to monitor (no installation required). For analytics, you drop a two-line script tag in your site's head section. That's it.

What's Next

If you have a feature request or find a filter list that's not being monitored yet, send it over. The platform is actively maintained and feature requests tend to get handled quickly.
